Helping them write faxes

Faxi reads handwriting, but a few small habits make it even more accurate. Worth a look before you hand the guide over.

  • Write neatly and a bit larger. Slow, clear writing reads better than a scrawl.
  • Start with one request per fax. Once comfortable, several is fine.
  • Send it so your own fax number is visible (that’s where the reply goes).
  • Everyone you email has an email address — think of it as their mailbox address.
  • Those addresses can be saved in the address book (→ Managing contacts). Saved once, there’s no need to write the address again.
  • For someone saved, name them by name or relationship (“email my daughter”, “email Tanaka-san”).
  • For someone not yet saved, write out their email address instead.
  • If several people match a name, Faxi faxes back a list to choose from.

Shopping (a Family Plan feature, coming soon)

Section titled “Shopping (a Family Plan feature, coming soon)”
  • Rough or specific both work: “warm socks” or “medium cotton socks, white.”
  • When the options arrive, circle or check what you want and send it back.

You can put several requests on one page. Number them (1, 2, 3…) and each gets its own answer.

  1. How do I make miso soup?
  2. Email my daughter “I’m well”
  3. I’d like to buy throat lozenges

Include the reference number (Ref) from the reply fax to continue a previous request.

Regarding Ref 12345, please change the time to 3pm

If anything is unclear, Faxi sends a fax to confirm. Answer that question and send it back.
